Grab The Games: Agony
Today, I am back with another review and this time is for a highly anticipated game called Agony. But what is this title all about? Is it worth picking and up? And the most important question of all, does it live up to its potential and the whole excited it received during the Kickstarter period? Let’s talk about the title first. Agony is a first-person, survival horror set in hell. You will begin your journey as a tormented soul within the depths of hell, without any memories of your past.
The unique ability to control people on your path, and even possess simply minded demons, gives you the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions you are in. By exploring the hostile environment and interacting with other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require meeting the mystical Red Goddess. To begin with, the first aspect I loved about this game is the level design and the whole world that is built for your character to explore. They are also really sharp and create a fantastic atmosphere for even the most demanding players.
The soundtrack of the title is decent as well with some good scores during your adventures. Furthermore, loved the fact that it always keeps you at the edge of your sit, trying to figure out where to go next and what to do. There is also an agony mode where there are randomly generated levels you’re you are trying to get the highest score possible. Unfortunately, these are the only positives I could find in the game. First and foremost, the menu needs a redesign and the UI, in general, to be more appealing and better for the players as well.
Another negative aspect is that the game is more a walking simulator than a survival game. There are enemies in the game, but most of the time you are trying to figure out where to go and how to solve the puzzles of the game. There is also no actual depth as far as your character is concerned; only a few details and you have to figure out about your past. The animations and the NPCs could have been made better with more information. The game needs to be polished, improve the design; smash the bugs and everything will be perfect and definitely will attract more players and sell more copies.
To sum up, the game has excellent potentials and a tremendous future ahead of it but only if the devs hear the feedback from the community and polish the title in general. In this state, I would recommend it at a discounted price.
