Grab The Games: Apotheon

As Greek I am so proud of this game because it companies the Greek gods, philosophy and ancient history with some good old fashioned combat. The game is called Apotheon. In Apotheon the Gods of Olympus have abandoned humanity, leaving you to perish without their benevolence. Take up arms against the Gods, climb Mount Olympus, and take their divine powers for yourself to ensure mankind's survival! Apotheon is a fast and brutal 2D action game with a striking art style and heroic narrative based on Ancient Greek Mythology. I am in love with this game. First and foremost the art-style is simply amazing.

The game (graphics and environments) are like taken from the ancient Greek vases that had the exact same drawings on them. Furthermore, another thing I loved is the open world element especially when you explore mountain Olympus. Moreover, the fighting system is also simple and easy to pick up and you can fight from soldiers and tyrants to all scary Greek mythology monsters and Gods. It should also be mentioned that another positive aspect of the game is definitely the local-op aspect where you can have lots of fun with your friends.

The music of the game is simply epic like taken from a movie for example the 300…that kind of epic. Also, I love that you can explore a lot of different locations and building and that the gameplay is not linear and boring like in other 2D games. However, there are some negative aspects that should be mentioned. First and foremost the battle is extremely simple with not much challenge offered.

You click a button and that is it you don't even have to aim to kill the opponent and the game doesn't offer much challenge as far as combat is concerned. Another negative aspect for me is that there is no real depth in the story. I mean it is really good but it is just not enough sometimes and you keep on slashing enemies without caring about the story!

To sum it all up, I loved the whole game, the art style and the whole experience was great but unfortunately it wasn't enough to keep me hooked. I recommend it for its unique theme and game experience but also people should measure the negative aspects before buying the game.
