Grab The Games: Dead Cells

Today, I am really happy to present you a game I was really happy to get my hands on. I am talking about an indie metroidvania like game called Dead Cells. After playing only a few hours, I couldn't be happier not only that we have the opportunity to review it but also that we are going to present why this title is unique! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up when available? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself.

Dead Cells is a roguelike, Castlevania-inspired action-platformer, allowing you to explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle assuming you're able to fight your way past its keepers. To beat the game, you'll have to master 2D souls-like like combat with the ever-present threat of permadeath looming. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat. To begin with, the very first aspect that really surprised me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp, unique and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The world is really well created full of details and an amazing soundtrack as well. It manages to create an honest old school atmosphere. Moreover, another important aspect of the title that really impressed me is the dynamic encounters against hordes of enemies that are ruthless and they will do anything to stop you from progressing in these procedural levels.

Despite the early status of the title, it is really well polished with a lot of things to do and it really kept me busy for hours. The story is no linear, progression and new levels can be unlocked each time you die. Its death offers a new start. Exploration is also a strong aspect of the title. There secret levels, hidden passages and items you will find along your way but only if you pay attention to details in each level. Another aspect I should also mention is definitely the

bosses and the huge arsenal from new weapons to the spells; you will find a lot of interesting stuff along your play through. Now, time to mention what we thing needs improvement or fixing. They are not negative thoughts just suggestions. Sometimes, it feels really unfair when you die by a lot of enemies because there are not enough items that replenish your health. Also, an amazing idea would be some local co-op mode so you play with your friends.

Verdict: 8/10
