Grab The Games: Downward

Another day, another review for our fans. Today, I couldn't be happier not only that we have the opportunity to review it but also that we are going to present why this title is as cool as it sounds! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up when available? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. Downward is a first-person open-world parkour adventure set in the medieval ruins of a post-apocalyptic world.

Centuries after a cataclysmic environmental event, you must seek out the mysterious artefacts that could have a role in explaining the "End of the Earth". As a lone traveler, you will embark on a daunting journey through beautiful but treacherous terrains of past civilizations. This is your only path. This world is not for humans anymore, and you'll need to become master of your body, mind, and spirit. Agility, precision, and determination are the only tools that will see you till the end. To begin with, the very first aspect that really impressed me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The levels and in general the set of the game is simply breathtaking. I caught myself at sometimes not playing the game and just gazing the sea and the scenery in general.

Furthermore, I should not forget to mention the use of parkour in this title. In order to go even further in the game, you will have to use a lot of parkour techniques like wall-jumps, wall-runs, climbs, sprints etc. Moreover, if you thought that you will be alone well guess again because a lot of dark enemies will come and try to stop you from reaching your goal. Also, you can command the sky to influence the environment, affecting both visuals and parkour. Distort gravity, control heat, or summon floods... your surroundings may be your only ally.

As far as the negative aspects are concerned, from the beta version I tried I found really irritating sometimes that you can't grab from ledges when you jump and you are not landing on them like in other games/platformers. This leads players to start all over again depending where the nearest checkpoint was. Moreover, another negative for me is that despite the fact that there are checkpoints when you reach land you can't start the game from there when you haven't reach a critical point of the title. The game is on early access so even if there are some things that I found negative I am sure they will be shaped in the feature so fear not!

To sum up, the game is really amazing despite the negative aspects and is definitely worth picking it up. As I mentioned before it is available now, in early access, and it is extremely promising and well shaped.

Verdict: 8/10
