Grab The Games: For The King
Finally For The King is live on Steam, a few weeks now, and I couldn't be happier not only that we have our hands on it but also that we are going to present you a full review of the title! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up right now or wait for it? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. The King is dead, murdered by an unknown assailant. Now the once peaceful kingdom of Fahrul is in chaos. With nowhere left to turn and stretched beyond her means, the queen has put out a desperate plea to the citizens of the land to rise up and help stem the tide of impending doom.
Set off with your make-shift party, either single player, local, or online co-op. Choose to split your party up and cover more ground, or stick together for protection. A sound strategy can mean the difference between life and death. For The King is a challenging blend of Strategy, JRPG Combat, and Roguelike elements. Each play through is made unique with procedural maps, quests, and events. Brave the relentless elements, fight the wicked creatures, sail the seas and delve into the dark underworld. None before you have returned from their journey. Will you be the one to put an end to the Chaos? To begin with, the very first aspect that really impressed me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The soundtrack of the title is decent as well. The world is also vivid and new challenges and horrors emerge at different times of day. Encounter weather and natural events that have a variety of effects, both good and bad. For example extra moves because the weather is sunny.
You can also control your own party or play with up to 3 people locally or online. Travel and fight together or dare to set off on your own. You can customize them as well and choose different classes for your heroes too. Moreover, not only the game is turn based but also it requires strategy and good planning. Dungeons are tough and there are new challenges around every corner. I should also not forget to mention that the map is procedurally crafted and you can collect lore to unlock new events and places. As far as the negative aspects are concerned, there aren't many.
Overall the game offers a really pleasant experience. If I had to mention a negative, it would be the fact that when the final quest is a dungeon the difficulty level escalates quickly without having the time to develop the characters even further because there is a round limit in which I can finish the quest. Another negative for me is the fact that sometimes, even on easy mode, the game feels unfair when the enemy constantly gets perfect shots and kills you even on the start quests.
To sum up, the game is simply AMAZING! Beautiful worlds, good story, questing is extremely fun. There are only a few negatives as I mentioned before but this didn’t stop me from having fun and enjoying the adventure this game offers.
Verdict: 8/10
