Grab The Games: Holy Potatoes! We're in Space?!
Another day, another review for our fans. Today, I couldn't be happier not only that we have the opportunity to review it but also that we are going to present why this title is as cool as it sounds! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up when available? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. Holy Potatoes! We're in Space?! is a space adventure game with management elements and turn-based combat.
Manage your very own spaceship and explore a procedurally generated universe with dozens of planets to explore for resources, and enemies you can encounter for intergalactic space battles. Encounter a cornucopia of space races, such as cosmic carrots, zany zucchinis, obnoxious onions, and even space whales! Take part in epic boss battles and save your grandfather, Jiji, who was incarcerated by the evil federation, The Eclipse. To begin with, the very first aspect that really impressed me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The cartoonish style of the levels and the small details makes this game such a good choice if you want to have fun. The story is also amazing, full of jokes and funny plot twists.
I loved that in every galaxy you visit there an amazing new adventure to leave. Crafting is also an essential part of the game. You can craft hundreds of weapons for your spaceship with different stats and abilities. You can also hire engineers to become part of your crew and man your ship each one with different skills that you can of course level up. Everything can be upgraded during your journey and create the ultimate spaceship and crew combination. The boss battles are amazing as well! As far as the negative aspects are concerned there aren't many to be honest.
The first thing I notice is that sometimes the turns are not enough to do everything. Heal your crew? Create part for the ones destroyed? Or explore further the remaining planets? You can't possibly do everything and escape. Especially when therapy or training in early levels needs 2-3 turns. Another negative for me is that while sometimes in a planet the enemy level/weaponry is fair enough, it can be really high in some occasions and force you to run from a battle or lose all your parts.
To sum up, the game is really amazing despite the negative aspects and is definitely worth picking it up. It is really fun, it makes you want to play even more and I found it really cheap compared to the content it offers. Go, go buy it!
Verdict: 8/10
