Grab The Games: JumpJet Rex

JumpJet Rex is a really interesting retro platformer game! It is good but is it that good? You will find right now after my formal introduction to the game! A punishing, old school 2-D platformer with a time-trial twist! Players take control of a T-Rex with extraterrestrial jump boots, tasked with saving dino-kind from extinction. Jump, drop and dash your way through 40+ challenging levels and race against the clock to preserve life during the Mesozoic era!

The game is also created and distributed by TreeFortressGames. There are a lot of things a loved in this game and I can't wait to let you know all the reasons I like it that much. First and foremost, I loved the whole retro style atmosphere with a old school 2-D sense. The graphics are also hand drawn and I liked that everything from the menu to the home of our hero are like levels of the game where you can interact almost with everything. Another thing worth mentioning is that in every level there are secret areas and collectibles items which are shipped straight away to Rex's room.

The music of the game is also addictive and feats perfectly to the game play experience you are expecting from JumpJet Rex! The game also has co-op mode which I totally recommend playing! This aspect as well the time trial twist makes the game even more worth playing again and again. In other words, the replay value of this title is high! Are these aspects not enough to buy the game already?

Ok I forgot to mention that you can customize your Dino the way you like and you can upgrade him too. This is another feature I loved in this title (my Rex looks really funny!!) I also loved the boss fights and there are a lot of levels to play! However, there are some negative aspects I should mention. First and foremost, I found the levels too small. Another negative for me is that the controls are way too simple resulting in doing the same thing over and over in every level!

To sum up, despite the negative aspects, this game is a little platforming gem in your steam library. I totally recommend it to everyone, especially to the people who love old-school games!

Verdict: 8.5/10
