Grab The Games: Last Days of Old Earth
Boys and girls of all ages from all around the world, it is time for another great review and this time I am honored to present you an RTS game by Slithering Ltd called Last Days of Old Earth that launched recently on steam. But is the game good? Is it worth picking it up at this point of development? Keep reading and you will find out in my review. Let me first introduce you the title properly first.
Last Days of Old Earth is a turn-based strategy game set in a far future world where the sun is dying. The remnants of humanity must migrate once a generation towards the equator where it is still warm enough to sustain life.
Spiritual successor to the cult classic PC game Armageddon Empires, Last Days of Old Earth invites you to become the leader of the human Skywatchers or the robotic Automata, two fundamentally opposed factions. In a hostile environment, where natural resources are almost depleted, you must fight your way to survive for one more turn. With scarcity goes rivalry, and only the law of the wild applies in this icy and desolate world. There is no space for defeat. Defeat means death on the battlefield or the end of our search for the last rays of a dying sun. We must escape the bitter, glacial wasted lands of Northwalk and find a new home. A new future. Really captivating right?
The very first thing that impressed me is definitely the graphics of the game that are sharp, unique and enhance the overall good gameplay experience. The maps/environments are really well designed as well and I love the fact that you can use the terrain to your advantage like climb hills and mountains to gain increased line of sight, and hide in forests and ruins to shield your forces from attack. Moreover, I love the fact that despite the fact that this title requires great strategy and use of your deck as wisely as possible the AI and the game overall is 100% fair.
You can also Deploy 24 unique heroes to lead your armies with powerful game-twisting special abilities and use over 60 special abilities to attach to your heroes and units. Combine them within your armies to discover the best synergies for your play style. There are also different modes available like Skirmish and multiplayer that promise to expand the gameplay experience and offer hours of fun. The roadmap of the game is also really interesting since in the future it will offer custom decks and more stealth tactics and a lot of other features to follow as well. As far as the negative features there aren't many if I had to mention one this would be that it need a good guide/manual that as I was informed it will be added in the near future!
To sum up, the game is one of the most polished early access titles I have seen this year bug free and with a lot of amazing features to follow. Pick it up while it is hot!
Verdict: 9/10
