Grab The Games: Malebolgia
Malebolgia is an atmospheric horror action/adventure, set in an old demonic palace, situated in the deepest Circle of Hell. The characters and story are inspired by Dante Alighieri's Inferno, the ranks and nobility of the Ars Goetia and European history at the dawn of the 20th century.
As the old and battle-weary Leopold, you are forced to fight your way through this desolate and cold bastion of Hell, filled with macabre ghouls, fiendish devils and gargantuan monsters. On his desperate quest for freedom, Leopold encounters familiar faces and slowly comes to realize why he is trapped inside the palace. Is there truly escape from the Beast itself? The first thing I loved about this game is the graphic style which is really captivating with an old-school twist and an amazing day and night cycle as well as a strong blizzard that will make your journey even more difficult. I also loved the contrast of light and shadow which creates a great atmosphere.
Moreover, another aspect which I should definitely mention is the ambient music in the game which is amazing and comes in contrast with the demons and the monsters you should overcome in your journey. I also liked that the whole palace is quit sometimes and you only here beautiful music while roaming the palace. As far as the story is concerned, it is really well given and it leaves the player wondering if he will escape this nightmare or if he will be forever trapped in this palace. The price is also really good as well.
Unfortunately these are the only positive aspects in the game, so let's move to the negative aspects. First and foremost, the combat in this game is extremely simple with no mechanics at all you can kill almost every monster with going back and attaching or jumping and attacking. Moreover, the game needs a redesigned tutorial because the controller button are displayed weirdly and it really confused me at first on what I should do. Furthermore, more save points would be highly appreciated since the game is challenging and you will die a few times at least.
To sum up, the game is satisfying with an amazing atmosphere, music and story. Despite the negative aspect I am sure everyone will enjoy It especially in this price. Hope to see more things from this dev and game in the feature because it/he is really promising!
