Grab The Games: Monstrum

Why I am doing this to myself? Lately I am playing horror games at night with all lights turned off. I did the same mistake with Monstrum and I didn't regret it at all! The game is great! But what is Monstrum really? Monstrum is an indie horror game by Team Junkfish. It takes the traditional survival horror formula and remixes it completely with procedurally generated levels, permadeath, and AI driven predators, ensuring that nowhere on its derelict cargo ship is ever truly safe.

Offering up a challenge to even the hardiest of gamers, Monstrum will force you to use your wits and whatever tools you can find to outrun or outsmart your pursuer. Attempt to escape from an environment that is out to kill you while evading the lurking terror that could be around any corner. Can you survive Monstrum? There are many positive aspects that I should mention. First and foremost, I loved the graphics of the game. Without the extreme system requirements the game seems really amazing with sharp graphics and amazing environments ideal for a horror game. Loved the main menu as well!!

The soundtrack of the game is amazing and the sounds of the game are really scary and achieve leaving the player in the edge of his sit constantly looking for monsters! Another feature that I love is that there are 3 different monsters in the game and a lot of hazards that you should be aware off and make the title more exciting to play. There are also escape roots but if you are not so lucky to escape permadeath awaits you. But after permadeath you will awake in a different ship and a different monster will hunt you!

Furthermore, I love the procedural generated aspect that everything is random and the items that have an exceptional use in game because you will have to fix a lot of things or find items that will help you survive, change place randomly. Also, I loved that you can hide in a lot of different places. However, there are some negative aspects that I should mention. First and foremost, the game is not that scary it is a horror game but not scary in the level of outlast for example. Another negative is that there is no save option so eventually you have to start over if you die and spend hours finding the right tools and avoid the monsters. The game would have been way better with a voice for our main character or a narrator !

To sum up, I really liked this horror game. It is not perfect but it offers a really amazing experience! I totally recommend it!
