Grab The Games: Oxenfree
Today, I am really happy to present you a game a little bit different than the others that I have recently reviewed and its name? Oxenfree. Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. Play as Alex, a bright, rebellious teenager who brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party on an old military island. The night takes a terrifying turn when you unwittingly open a ghostly gate spawned from the island's cryptic past. How you deal with these events, your peers, and the ominous creatures you've unleashed is up to you.
YOU determine every aspect of Alex's story while exploring Edwards Island, uncovering the base's dark past, and changing the course of your friends' lives. Really interesting concept right? Wait till you see what more aspects I loved in this game. The very first think I loved in this game is definitely the graphics of the title. There are various rich in details environments, beautiful sceneries which feel like hand drawn and straight out of a Disney movie. The soundtrack is also one of the strong aspects of the game and it is created by scntfc (Sword & Sworcery, Galak-Z). The voice acting is worth mentioning as well since it is actors from The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Borderlands and more.
Another positive aspect worth mentioning is definitely the radio system which allows the player not only to get info about his surroundings but also it allows our main character Alex to communicate with mysterious specters and manipulate her world. The conversation system is also amazing because every choice you make affects the relationships with the other members of the group and this can change on every decision.
The mechanics of the game are not too difficult to get used to as well but they are intriguing enough and make the player love the game really quick. As far as the negative aspects are concerned, honestly there aren't much since the game offers exactly what promises and even more. If I had to mention one negative aspect for me is that especially in the beginning the game progress a little bit slow but this depends on the playe's point of you.
To sum it all up, as I have already mentioned, the game offers exactly what it promises. It is one of the games that your choices truly affect the outcome of the game and the ending. Everything is orchestrated really well and the graphics and the music combined create a unique atmosphere even for the most demanding gamer!
Verdict: 9/10
