Grab The Games: Sundered
Finally we have our hands on Sundered for Steam, a few weeks now, and I couldn't be happier not only that we have the opportunity to preview it but also that we are going to present why this title is unique! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up when available? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. Sundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a hand¬-drawn epic from the creators of Jotun (a title I also love). You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever changing caverns teeming with eldritch horrors.
Harness the power of corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses, at the cost of your humanity. Resist or embrace. Before I start my initial thought about this title I would live to mention that we have played the pre-alpha version of the title and a huge thank you to Thunder Lotus Games for the opportunity. To begin with, the very first aspect that really surprised me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp, unique and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The world is really well created full of details and an amazing soundtrack as well. Everything is hand drown as well. Moreover, another important aspect of the title that really impressed me is the dynamic encounters against hordes of enemies that are ruthless and they will do anything to stop you from progressing in these procedural levels. Despite the early status of the title, the pre-alpha version of the title is really well polished with a lot of things to do and it really kept me busy for some time. The hub is really well-created and I like how everything is organized. You can prioritize where to spend your coins health, perks, abilities etc.
The abilities can also be corrupted, be more powerful and everything you do and the choices you make can lead to different endings. Now, time to mention what we thing needs improvement or fixing. They are not negative thoughts just suggestions. Sometimes, it feels really unfair when you die by a horde of enemies. Suddenly a lot of enemies spawn out of nowhere while in your other encounters there were like 4-5 enemies. What I mean is that there is no escalation in your encounters, so a difficulty setting or some fixes would be appreciated. The minimap could be better designed in order to show more apart from different colors in different areas and
where the bosses are like the number of enemies or if they are breakable objects/chests etc. The loading screen can also use some spice up, there is such beautiful art work and environments, now in this version it is way too minimal. Maybe some lore will display in the feature. Moreover, there were only a few bugs like mouse always appearing when using a controller. Vibration can also be added when an enemy hits you or when your armor breaks. Last but not least you can easily get lost and not find any abilities for some time.
To sum up, after playing only a short preview of the game, I am really impressed with Sundered. It is honestly AMAZING, worth checking out and I can't wait to see how it will shape in the feature. If you want to support a game with a great potential well buy it instantly when available or support its Kickstarter while you still can (the game got funded in less than 6 hours amazing right? )
