Grab The Games: Syndrome
Finally Syndrome is live on Steam, a few weeks now, and I couldn't be happier not only that we have our hands on it but also that we are going to present you a full review of the title! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up right now or wait for it? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. You wake up dazed and confused, probably from the effects of cryosleep.
No one can be seen around, but you soon start to find the bodies of your dead crewmen.
The ship is adrift, and whoever or whatever killed your crewmates is probably still around. Syndrome is a sci-fi survival horror game that takes place aboard the "Valkenburg", an exploration and science ship equipped with the most advanced systems in the Novacore fleet. You need to find out what happened to your crewmen and do whatever you can to survive this nightmare. The enemies are powerful and numerous, which means that stealth and evasion are often the best strategy.
You'll find weapons aboard the ship, but ammo is scarce and should be wisely spent. To begin with, the very first aspect that really surprised me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp, unique and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The levels are really well created full of details and interactive features. The ship and the lighting in the whole game are simply captivating in creating a really intensive atmosphere. The story of the game is amazing as well. Nothing is what it seems and there are a lot of plot twists. I also loved the exploration and the fact that there is not enough ammo on the ship and you must hide or take a few enemies out to survive and find what happened.
Moreover, during the first launch of the game there were a lot of bugs that most of them were fixed really quickly. As far as the negative aspects are concerned unfortunately they are a lot. The AI needs a lot of improvements in order to offer a challenging experience that will keep you hooked and frightened of what comes next. Also, there are still some bugs that need fixing. Sometimes it took me a great amount of time to find enemies to fight. Last but not least, you will find a lot of similarities with games like System Shock and Outlast.
To sum up, the game despite its negatives looks and feels really amazing. I totally recommend it if you don't mind all the mentioned disadvantages and I can tell that the devs will keep improving the title constantly.
Verdict: 7/10
