Grab The Games: Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth
Another day, another review for our fans. Today, I couldn't be happier not only that we have the opportunity to review it but also that we are going to present why this title is as cool as it sounds! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up when available? Stick around and you will find out now. Let's start by mentioning a few things about the game itself.
Trapped in an ancient forest, a young prince searches for a lost god. Here he befriends the spirit of a young girl and a volatile child, and they quickly find their destinies intertwined. Players control all three protagonists as they explore an overgrown fantasy landscape, meet its strange and wonderful inhabitants, and overcome the ancient magic and puzzles protecting it. All this is wrapped in an interactive, non-linear story that challenges allegiances and true intentions. Warden is a third-person action-adventure game inspired by the genre classics of the N64-era. In order to survive and bring balance to the forest, your combat, platforming and puzzle-solving skills will be put to the test! This game will definitely take you in a trip down the memory lane. To begin with, the very first aspect that really impressed me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title. They are really sharp and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. If you love games like Legend Of Zelda or other old-school titles, well…this game if for you.
The levels are really well created full of details, and there a lot of different ones to discover in your adventures. They are also hand-painted which is something that makes them so distinctive. Moreover, another important aspect of the title that really impressed me is definitely the detailed character creation. The soundtrack is amazing as well and it varies between the levels. Moreover, in your adventures you will encounter different monsters and make new friends as well. There are three playable characters, each with unique abilities, personalities and interactions. You can also meet and trade with the friendly denizens making a living in the forest.
If you are a puzzle lover, you will find a lot of challenges and secrets in the levels that will reward you big time as well. Furthermore, there are over sixty different weapons with varying strengths and attack styles. Take any weapon used by enemies and exploit their weaknesses. As far as the negative aspects are concerned, one big negative for me is the combat of the game. It feels clumsy and unfair especially if you encounter bosses. You will die many times by just trying to evade and attack. It could have been way better.
To sum up, the game is really amazing despite the negative aspects and is definitely worth picking it up. For most of us is a trip down the memory lane, even though it will remind you a lot of a Zelda game, the game stands out and it is really enjoyable.
